First responders were called around 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 to the 11000 block of Highland School Road, where there was a reported fire in Myersville.

Upon arrival, Frederick County Fire and Rescue Service crews found a mobile home with "extensive fire showing" and were informed that it may be occupied, prompting an emergency search.

An unconscious person was found inside, officials said, and treated by paramedics at the scene, though they were pronounced dead. No details about an identity has been released by Frederick County officials, pending the outcome of the investigation.

It took an estimated 35 firefighters, with mutual aid from Washington County, around 20 minutes to place the fire under control, they added.

No other injuries were reported, though the fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage. The cause of the fatal fire remain under investigation by the Frederick County Fire Marshal's Office.
